Movie Recommendation: Sarah’s Key

If you get a chance while its still in theaters, check out the new movie “Sarah’s Key” (or put it in  your Netflix queue for when it comes out on DVD).  It’s one of the best, most powerful movies I’ve seen in a while.

It’s not a Christian movie per se so there’s some minor language issues but the story is a powerful one of redemption, relationships and struggle, all set around the historical and notorious Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup in 1942 (the little known – and perhaps in the U.S., unknown – French round-up of the Jews during WWII).

A mentor of mine said you should only see movies that ‘make you laugh, make you cry, take you high and take you low.’  This one does it!  It reminds you of how low humanity can go while simultaneously reminding you of high we can fly.

P.S. The only thing better than the movie is the book on which its based (same title by  Tatiana de Rosnay) – but the movie does justice to the book so don’t feel guilty if you choose to ‘watch’ and not ‘read.’.
