**EVANGELISM / CHURCH GROWTH**

INVEST AND INVITE WORKS

"We tailor everything in our church for our people to come and bring people.

That's why our church has grown so fast. The church is the New Testament strategy to reach people on this planet. So the church has to be involved in the mindset to do this."

  • How to challenge members to invest themselves in relationships with the lost and then invite them to church.

TWELVE MARKS OF A MISSIONAL CHURCH
By Scott Thomas

"A church that is not missional is not really a church. A church exists by mission as the sun exists by burning. When the sun loses its burn it ceases to be the sun. When a church loses its mission, it ceases to be a church."

MOBILIZNG FOR MISSIONS
Is Your Church Ready for the Acts 1:8 Strategy?

"In Acts 1:8, Jesus did not elevate one mission field above others. Instead,

He commanded that Christians reach out to all four mission fields, and twenty-firstcentury <Christians> see them like this: Jerusalem (local), Judea (state), Samaria (North America), and the ends of the earth (international)."

REFELCTIONS ON THE WAY TO SALVATION
By Various Authors

"When Jesus prayed to the one who could save him from death, he did not get that salvation; he got instead the salvation of the world."

HOOKS, LINES AND THINKERS
Sermon Titles that Sizzle

"I had written a sermon about Jacob wresting with God. My working title was 'Jacob Wrestles with God.' Pretty clever, huh? Then I changed it to 'Fighting with God.'"

GENEROUS ORTHODOXY
An Interview with Brian McLaren

"a generous orthodoxy is an attempt to remarry two things that never should have been divorced -- truth and love, orthodoxy and orthopraxy, doctrine and ethics/mission."

**CULTURE AND CHRISTIANITY**

RAY: MOVIE REVIEW

"One thing Ray had going for him was his faith in Jesus. Ever so often in the film, his faith practice peeks through. In one scene Ray is alone in a hotelroom. He is playing Gospel records and reading the Braille Bible--the part about Moses leading his people out of bondage."

The North American Mission Board Personal Evangelism Team is nearing completion on a software program called The Evangelism Planner. The program includes resources on many kinds of evangelism through the local church, as well as a project management system to track your budget, tasks, and church involvement. The Evangelism Planner will be available by January 2005. The Evangelism and Ministry Division will provide it free to all churches in the Convention.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has announced its plans for a Billy Graham Crusade in New York City, June 23-26, 2005. This is a tremendous opportunity for local churches to take advantage of all that a Graham Crusade offers, such as Christian Life and Witness classes, Operation Andrew, and Love in Action.

For more information on the crusade, contact Art Bailey at the Graham office in NYC at abailey@bgea.org. The Baptist Convention of New York and the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association are working together to assist churches in evangelism preparation and training.
