"If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy who drives the plough to know more of the scriptures than you do." — William Tyndale
2026 marks the 500-year anniversary of the first English New Testament, translated by English scholar and priest William Tyndale. Published in February 1526, it was the first complete English translation from the original Hebrew and Greek Scriptures.
Tyndale ultimately gave his life to share the Gospel in a language every English person could understand, paving the way for the English Reformation. His new translation was denounced by King Henry VIII and considered an act of rebellion against the Church; he was executed for his “crimes” in 1536.
For this 500th anniversary celebration, Nelson Searcy has put together a special collection that looks closer at the life and legacy of “The Father of the English Bible.”
Secure this 500th Anniversary collectible e-book that will inspire you as a pastor and be a powerful addition to your ministry library!
Edited by Dr. Nelson Searcy, this 39-page e-book includes:
- A beautifully designed, illustrated keepsake commemorating the 500th Anniversary of Tyndale’s New Testament
- A deep dive into Tyndale’s crowning achievements, with insights into his English translation
- Notable quotes from Tyndale, spoken as a champion of God’s word
- An illustrated timeline of Tyndale’s life and ultimate martyrdom
- A fascinating look at Tyndale’s impact on the English language (many familiar biblical phrases and figures of speech today originated with Tyndale!)
- And more!
Because Tyndale translated directly from the Greek and Hebrew Scriptures, his translation was far more accurate than others that used the Latin Vulgate Bible. He translated into the simplest English possible, keeping with his objective of making the Bible accessible to as many people as possible.
This e-book celebrates Tyndale’s contribution to the Kingdom, made at great personal sacrifice.

In his Book of Martyrs, John Foxe records that Tyndale’s last words before his execution were:
“Lord! Open the king of England’s eyes”
